What you’re dealing with
A general Bluetooth scan does not care. The watch broadcasts a standard advertisement and any scanner can follow it.
| Broadcasts as | Galaxy Watch, Pixel Watch, TicWatch, followed by an identifier |
|---|---|
| Typical battery | 1 to 3 days on most models |
| Findable by scan | Yes, while powered on |
| Search window | Days to weeks |
Once the battery is gone: A day or two of battery gives you a reasonable window, but not the fortnight a Garmin would.
Where it usually is
Bedside and bedding
Watches come off at night more than at any other time.
Bathroom shelves
Removed before a shower.
Gym bags
Off for a lift or a swim and into the bag rather than back on the wrist.
How to search for it
- Check the last-seen map firstBefore you search a room, find out which building. A pin saves you from searching the right way in the wrong place.
- Scan from the middle of the roomNote everything that appears, then select the device you want so the rest of the list drops away.
- Walk and watch the signalSweep in a straight line, give each position a few seconds, and turn 90 degrees when the reading stops rising.
- Search inside things, not across themA strong signal with nothing visible means it is underneath or inside something. Fabric and metal block Bluetooth badly.
Tips specific to android smartwatch
- Look for the model name in the scan list; Android watches broadcast it plainly.
- Save it under My Devices so the last-seen position is recorded from then on.
- A watch on a charging puck is a watch that is not lost, check every charger first.

Common questions
Can I find a Galaxy Watch from an iPhone?
Not with Samsung's own tools, which require Android. A Bluetooth scan works from any phone because it reads the watch's open broadcast rather than a manufacturer service.
