Windows broadcasts the PC name, so if you have ever renamed the machine it will be readable in a scan rather than an anonymous string.

How to search for it
- Check the last-seen map firstBefore you search a room, find out which building. A pin saves you from searching the right way in the wrong place.
- Scan from the middle of the roomNote everything that appears, then select the device you want so the rest of the list drops away.
- Walk and watch the signalSweep in a straight line, give each position a few seconds, and turn 90 degrees when the reading stops rising.

Tips specific to windows laptop
- Rename the PC to something you will recognise in a list of twenty. Settings, System, About, Rename this PC.
- Sleep keeps it discoverable; hibernate does not. If it went missing after a shutdown, go to the last-seen pin.
- Bluetooth does not pass through floors well in an office building, which makes a floor-by-floor sweep efficient.
