What you’re dealing with
In a bike shed or a car park, that is genuinely useful: a scan tells you whether your machine is still in radio range before you walk the whole level.
It is not an anti-theft system. Bluetooth range is tens of metres and a stolen vehicle is out of range within seconds.

Once the battery is gone: A parked e-scooter continues to draw a trickle and stays discoverable for days, but a battery removed or fully drained ends that.

How to search for it
- Check the last-seen map firstBefore you search a room, find out which building. A pin saves you from searching the right way in the wrong place.
- Scan from the middle of the roomNote everything that appears, then select the device you want so the rest of the list drops away.
- Walk and watch the signalSweep in a straight line, give each position a few seconds, and turn 90 degrees when the reading stops rising.
- Search inside things, not across themA strong signal with nothing visible means it is underneath or inside something. Fabric and metal block Bluetooth badly.
Tips specific to electric scooter or e-bike
- Note the serial number in the advertised name now, it is how you will identify yours among several of the same model.
- Scan from the entrance of a car park level before walking it. If nothing appears, move to the next level rather than searching this one.

Common questions
Can Bluetooth find a stolen scooter?
No. Bluetooth reaches tens of metres. For theft you need a GPS tracker with its own cellular connection, which is a different product entirely.
