What it means

Bluetooth Classic is the original mode, designed for continuous data like audio. It behaves differently from Low Energy and is much less visible to a scanner.

A device connected over Classic and not advertising over Low Energy can be effectively invisible to a scan even while it is actively playing music.

Most modern hardware advertises over BLE as well, which is why the problem is rare in practice. It is worth knowing about when something you can hear working refuses to appear in a list.

Older speakers and car systems are the usual culprits.

Why can I hear my speaker but not see it in a scan?
