Where it usually is
Yesterday’s trousers
In the wash pile or on a chair.
The car
Between the seat and the centre console is where wallets go when you sit down.
Under the seat at a café or bar
Slid out of a back pocket when you sat, then kicked under.
A bag you have changed out of
Wallets migrate between bags and stay in the old one.
How to search for it
- Check the last-seen map firstBefore you search a room, find out which building. A pin saves you from searching the right way in the wrong place.
- Scan from the middle of the roomNote everything that appears, then select the device you want so the rest of the list drops away.
- Walk and watch the signalSweep in a straight line, give each position a few seconds, and turn 90 degrees when the reading stops rising.
- Search inside things, not across themA strong signal with nothing visible means it is underneath or inside something. Fabric and metal block Bluetooth badly.
Tips specific to wallet
- Cancel nothing for the first thirty minutes. Most wallets are found in the first place you did not think to check.
- If you carry a card tag, check its charge on a schedule, a flat tag is the same as no tag.

Common questions
Can I track a wallet with no tracker in it?
No. There is nothing to detect. The realistic move is to put a Bluetooth card in it now so the next time is different.
